We can't trust all of our ancestors, can we?
The Black Paranormal Project
The project seeks to understand the connection between Black culture and the paranormal. Do Black people believe in ghosts? Is there a difference between ghosts and ancestors? Where do Black people develop their paranormal beliefs? How do Black people uniquely experience, discuss, and project their experiences with the paranormal?
The Black Paranormal Project builds on research, write analyses and create community events to bring Black people and our allies together to go beneath the surface. Perhaps, there's an answer in the darkness that will help us to find our collective liberation.

DISBELIEF:
A Paranormal Sound Gallery
Your presence is requested to explore some spooky shit. Will you allow yourself to be immersed into memories of Black folks and our encounters with the paranormal? Rooted in Detroit, I'm using race and place as a lens to explore an under-told part of Black culture. I'm bridging sociological research with interviews, sound design, and visuals to present a haunting archive. Prepare to experience our shared humanity between the living and the departed for yourself.
The project explores the intersection of race, place, and spirituality to highlight the humanity of us all: dead and alive. The installation is possible due to a grant from the Diaspora Solidarities Lab.
